Training and Development is one of the areas that can help an organization retain its top talent. An organization that spends money on this area demonstrates the importance of continuous learning of their employees, who are the ultimate resource a company needs to be successful.

Most people really like to be challenged and providing tools to help employees succeed in their career is really appreciated.

There many methods for training and development, including e-learning, which is done online and has become a popular method of training because it allows students a chance to learn from the comfort of their office or home.

The traditional classroom style is still a popular training method because students get to meet other students and have an opportunity to actually see the teacher in person. It also makes it easier to do group work exercises.

There is also mentorship, the exercise of having an experienced person help a person who may be less experienced in their field.  This method can also help an organization’s succession planning, because it can help more experience employees transfer their knowledge to others in the same organization. As technology has become more advanced more people can connect across borders without traveling, using tools such as Skype.
